Police, Border Force, Customs Roadside Checks
Low light conditions bring with them challenges for the Police, Border Force and Customs & Excise when conducting vehicle checks. Hi-vis PPE is essential but an often overlooked piece of safety equipment is a pair of traffic wands.
Frequently you will see officers waving down vehicles into check points with nothing more than a hi-vis clad arm, sometimes a torch but traffic wands bring a completely different level of high visibility to the situation.
Our Knightkit traffic wands use S class LED’s which offer superior output and with up to 19 LED’s in each wand they are best in class with visibility measured in 100’s of metres (subject to ambient lighting conditions).
A pair of traffic wands in an experienced police officers hands can provide directional instructions to drivers that are extremely clear to understand making it safer for both the police officer signalling and drivers who can sometimes be confused as to who the signals are been directed at.
We have a wide range of colours available but for the emergency services only this includes blue signalling wands in 3 different models.
The compact KB27BUC Blue traffic Wand uses 3 X AAA batteries to provide a full working shift of light output, its the brightest in our range and because of the smaller batteries is the most compact. With Klickfast accessories it can be worn and so will double as a PPE safety light for police officers follow this link to read more. With the Klickfast twist action it can quickly be uncoupled from equipment belts or hi-vis jackets and used to provide signalling direction to vehicle drivers etc.
The KB27B and KB37B are blue traffic wands of 27cm and 37cm lengths respectively and use 3 X AA batteries, slightly wider as a result of the batteries used, they offer similar levels of performance to each other having the exact same number of LED’s but have extended performance characteristics because of the larger power source.
A longer traffic wand is better at imparting directional messages at greater distance and is easier for drivers to see a pointing action from afar. The KB27B and KB37B cannot be used with the Klickfast range of accessories as they are slightly too wide for them but they do fit in the hand comfortably.
Accessories are however available for these and they can be traffic cone mounted using our traffic cone adapter or located on our tripod. This makes these traffic wands multipurpose and they can be used for lane demarcation (see example click here) they are significantly lighter and more transportable than other police beacons (although you may want to look at our Knightpod Police Beacon)
