Traffic Cone Mounted Traffic Wands
People are familiar with the concept of traffic wands been used to marshal plant, aircraft, vehicles, people etc. (in Dover its ships if you watch the latest series about Dover’s police!) and most people think of them as been just hand held devices.

However they also have some very useful standalone applications, so we thought it worth a post about this highlighting some capabilities you may not have considered, applications such as:-
- Lane markers
- Demarcation zones
- Quarantine areas
- Parking areas
- Entry and Exit Points
- Barriers
- Queuing Points
Traffic wands are compact, have light tubes that provide 360 degree impressively bright light output, can be mounted at height and are available in a variety of colours.
Mounting them on traffic cones with our Traffic Cone Adapter gives them a highly elevated position, easy to see from any vehicle including HGV’s.
As you can fit literally dozens of traffic batons in a medium sports sized bag, they are very easy to transport and store, think about traditional traffic cone lamps and the space and handling requirements for a dozen of those by comparison.
Mounted on top of a traffic cone in a busy port, exhibition centre, car park etc. you have a coloured ‘marker’ that stands several feet off of the ground that indicates a zone, entry or exit point etc.
The combination of size and weight with magnetic fixings make make the traffic batons such an easy product to handle and mount quickly where ever needed.
They can be deployed much more quickly than heavier bulky lighting solutions which benefits the user in labour costs as well as materially as they are a low cost item.
Our Knightkit traffic wands have coloured light sleeves so even when not illuminated they provided a daytime signal/marker capability i.e. “please follow the green channel“. It’s easier to put a coloured traffic wand on top of a standard cone than have multiple coloured traffic cones! When illuminated and with selectable light settings, you have a night-time capability which different coloured traffic cones just don’t have and the wands can be seen at distance from any angle thanks to the 360 degree light output.
As well as the traffic cone mounting adapter we have a purpose designed tripod stand available too. Made in hi-vis yellow, this plastic tripod stand collapses for easy storage and will support our short and long wands 20cm’s above from any ground surface. If driven over by accident they will break without damaging vehicles or tyres (but will of course need replacing!)
With a tripod and wand combination you get a highly mobile, storage and weight friendly solution to deploying marker lights quickly but obviously with this kind of deployment you need think about durability as the stands are purposely designed to crush if driven over in error!
