Sequential Solar Traffic Cone Lamp – Carton of 10

A Green, Cost‑Saving Innovation

The Sequential Solar Traffic Cone Lamp combines our latest synchronous cone lamp technology with an 8V 200mA solar panel and a rechargeable 6.41V 8000mAh extended‑performance battery (purchased separately). This innovative rechargeable battery replaces the traditional 4R25 single‑use battery, reducing waste and dramatically extending endurance between battery changes.

Operators can recoup their investment in as little as three months, with substantial cost savings over the typical three‑year lifespan of the rechargeable battery.

Solar‑Enhanced Endurance

The solar panel supplements the lamp’s power requirements when weather conditions permit, extending battery duration by an impressive 45–55% during summer months. In our own November field tests, the solar‑augmented lamp delivered a 43% longer runtime compared to a standard sync lamp running 24/7.

Citation: “The power provided by the solar panel can extend battery duration by a massive 45–55% during the summer months… performed for an amazing 43% longer than a standard sync lamp running 24/7.”

Field Testing

In comparative tests using identical fully charged batteries:

– The standard sync lamp ran for 108 hours.
– The solar sync lamp ran for 165 hours — an additional 57 hours, equating to a 43% increase in endurance.

Both lamps use identical core components and operate with a constant low background light and a 1‑second bright flash sequential feature. The only difference is the solar augmentation.

How It Works

During daylight hours, the solar panel generates power and feeds it back into the rechargeable battery via intelligent circuitry. The battery can be inserted in any orientation — the charging polarity is automatically managed.

Once positioned on a traffic cone, the lamp operates 24/7 with its low‑intensity background light and bright sequential flash. Operators benefit from significantly extended service intervals between battery changes, especially in summer.

When battery levels decline, the lamp’s flash brightness reduces, providing a clear visual indicator that a battery change or solar recharge is required. Two bright days of sunshine will typically fully recharge the battery.

Rechargeable batteries are supplied in sets of eight and charged in a dedicated case with LED status indicators. A full recharge cycle takes 2–3 hours.

Anti‑Theft & Anti‑Tamper Features

The rechargeable battery cables are uniquely designed and must not be replaced with non‑factory cables. This protects the battery and discourages unauthorised acquisition.

The solar sequential lamp features a redesigned battery housing located at the front of the cone (similar to Nissen‑style lamps). The battery cover requires firm pressure to release, making it difficult for unfamiliar users to remove — an effective anti‑tamper measure.

Do I Still Need to Change Batteries?

Yes — but far less frequently. UK weather does not provide enough sunlight for fully solar‑powered operation year‑round, but the powerful 200mA panel always replenishes some of the battery’s power.

Night‑time operators benefit greatly, as lamps left in sunlight during the day will recharge between deployments.

Robust Build

The solar panel is built for demanding commercial environments and is not comparable to domestic garden‑light panels. The lamp is designed to withstand a 9‑foot drop test onto concrete and uses easy‑clean materials to resist grime ingress.

Rechargeable Battery Features

The rechargeable battery includes an LED power indicator. The lamp itself provides a visual low‑power warning by reducing flash brightness while maintaining the background light.

Cost Benefits

Reduced battery changes deliver:

  • Lower direct and indirect labour costs
  • Reduced vehicle operating costs
  • Lower battery replacement costs
  • Less disruption to the public
  • Reduced risk in hazardous motorway environments
  • Less paperwork

Solar Output Expectations

Domestic solar data indicates:

  • 65–75% of annual solar generation occurs between April and September
  • 25–35% occurs between October and March

Winter output is typically 60–70% lower than summer, and highways environments introduce additional contamination factors. Despite this, solar panels remain effective even in winter, especially on clear days.

Based on field tests and industry data, operators can expect an average 50% increase in service intervals between battery changes.

Specification

  • 8V 200mA solar panel
  • 1W LED with 65CD flash (L7 Class) and 2CD background (L3 Class)
  • Flash rate: 60 per minute
  • Rechargeable LiFePO4 6.41V 8000mAh lithium battery (purchased separately)
  • Approx. 1000 hours runtime without solar input
  • EN12352:2006+AC2009 certified

Positioning & Powering On

Typically deployed in strings of 17 lamps (or more), spacing can range from 2 to 15 metres. Lamps can be deployed in any order, with a ±10 degree offset to allow IR sensors to establish the correct sequence.

Pushing the lamp down onto a traffic cone powers it on. Within 15–20 seconds, lamps synchronise and begin their chase pattern.

Each lamp includes a rear indicator light that flashes when receiving IR signals from the lamp ahead.

Features & Benefits

  • V6 200mAh solar panel
  • Solar power switching and IR synchronisation
  • Fast push‑down activation
  • Extended battery duration through solar augmentation
  • Robust, dirt‑resistant materials
  • Replaceable components
  • Proven design with continual improvements
